Step-down transformers then reduce voltage for industrial, commercial, or residential consumption. Efficiency is paramount, with modern transformers achieving 98–99% efficiency through low-loss core materials, optimized winding designs, and advanced cooling techniques. Harmonics, voltage surges, and load fluctuations are mitigated using tap changers, surge arresters, and monitoring systems.
